Adding an MX Record in cPanel

To add an MX record in cPanel, go to the MX Entry settings page from the Mail section.

mx1

A window like the following will appear.

mx2

Before adding the MX record, you need to configure this setting.

Local Mail
Exchanger
: Select this if you want emails to come only to your own server.
Backup Mail Exchanger: Select this if you want emails to be backed up on your own server while being sent to the server whose MX record you added.
Remote Mail Exchanger: Select this if you want emails to be sent directly to the server whose MX record you entered, without being backed up.

After selecting your setting, click the Change button.

Now you can add your MX
record.

mx3

The
Priority option here determines the priority of the MX record. The smaller this value, the first server the email is directed to. We set this value to 0. Enter the MX record of the target server in the Destination field and click the
Add New Record button.

Good Work.

Creating MySQL Database and User in cPanel

MySQL database, which plays an active role in storing and managing data on servers, is the preferred choice of many users due to its ease of use. In cPanel, it is located under
the Databases tab. Database and user creation and permission assignment operations are performed from this section.

Mysql

Mysql2

We type the name of the database we want to create in the new database field and
create our database by clicking Create Database. We can see the databases we have created in the “Current Databases” tab at the bottom.

We can check or repair the database named “ozgurcifdeneme” that we created. The cPanel username is
prepended to the name of the database we created.

Mysql3

Creating a User

A user must be created to use the database.

Mysql4l

The user should be created by
entering the username and a strong password generated from the “password generator” section. The number of users and databases that can be created depends on your privileges. Multiple databases and users can be easily managed from this interface. We can see
the created users in the “Current Users” section. The cPanel username is prepended to the database user we created.

User Authorization

This is one of the most important steps. Authorization must be performed to use the database and user we
created. If there is no previously created database or user, they will come pre-selected. After completing these steps, our database operations will be complete, and we can configure the database and user information on the script/software side to start using
it.

Creating a New Email Account in cPanel

To use email addresses with your domain extension, you need to create a mail account from your site’s control panel. Creating a mail account in cPanel is quite simple. Follow the
steps below to easily create an email account for your site.

Creating an Email Account

After logging into cPanel, go to the Email Accounts section under the Mail section on the main page.

mail1

After entering this section, the next page that appears will contain the fields for
creating an email account. From here, you can activate the email address by entering the email address you want to create and specifying the password and disk quota the email address will use. It is important for your security that your password is not simple. Simple
passwords are cracked by bots, and thousands of spam emails can be sent from your account without your knowledge.

Preventing Cron Job Email Notifications

Scheduled tasks added via cPanel or the crontab section send an email to the cron owner after each execution. The way to prevent this is to add

/dev/null
2>&1

to the end of the added file. For example, if the file you are adding looks like the following, you should add the > /dev/null 2>&1 part at the end.

wget -O - -q -t 1 –timeout=60
http://URL_TO_RUN > /dev/null 2>&1

If you are adding via crontab on a Linux server, it should look like the following. (Times are given as examples.)

*/5 * * * * /usr/local/cpanel/bin/dcpumon >/dev/null
2>&1

What is a Cronjob?

A Cronjob, whose equivalent is “Scheduled Task”, is used for processes you want to run on your site at specific time intervals. The file for which you have configured a Cronjob will run the
specified task in the background at the time intervals you have determined.

cronjob

From the automatic time setting section, you can select specific times, or you can set the time you want from the time settings section below. The task written in the Command Line field is
automatically executed at the time intervals you have set.

Note: Cron usage on Netinternet hosting servers requires authorization.

CSF Allow List

If your IP address has been blocked by CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall), there are 2 methods to remove the block. Both methods require root access.

Method 1: From
WHM Panel, search for ConfigServer. On the page that appears, click on Firewall Deny IPs, search for your external IP address, and remove the entire line.

  1. Method 2 is via SSH,

    nano
    /etc/csf/csf.deny

Open this section with nano, press CTRL + W, type your IP address in the field that opens at the bottom, and press Enter to find the relevant line. Press CTRL + K to
delete the entire line. Then press CTRL + X, press Y, and press Enter. Then you can restart CSF with the csf -r command.

CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall) Installation

CSF Firewall is a firewall plugin installed on cPanel servers. This plugin works on physical servers and Hypervisor-based VDS virtual servers. It does not work properly
on VPS virtual servers (software-virtualized servers). To install this Iptables-based software on your server, make an SSH connection and run the commands below in order.

wget http://www.configserver.com/free/csf.tgz
tar -xzf csf.tgz
cd csf
sh
install.sh
cd ..
rm -Rfv csf/ csf.tgz

After completing the installation, you can configure and run the CSF Firewall software according to your own needs via the Plugins section in your WHM panel. If you have iptables-based firewall software such as
BDF or APF installed on your server before installing CSF, you must first remove those packages. You can remove them with the following command.

sh /usr/local/csf/bin/remove_apf_bfd.sh

CSF is free software; if you are not satisfied, you
can remove it from your server. To remove it;

cd /etc/csf
sh uninstall.sh

it is sufficient to run these commands.
