File Manager allows you to work directly with your files and directories from the control panel. It is located under the Files tab of your account.
What you can do in File Manager:
- List files and directories
- Add files and directories
- Copy / move files and directories
- Delete files and directories
- Browse / configure files
- Change access permissions for files and directories
- File Manager is under the “Files” tab in the control panel. When you go to this tab, you will see the directories on your website. Click on a directory name to navigate to it.
- You can add files and directories as follows:
a. To create a directory: Click New – Directory, specify a name (e.g. Tmp), click OK. To add a directory inside this folder:
b. Click Tmp - New – File tab, enter a name (e.g. test.txt), click OK. If you are adding a web page, you can include basic HTML elements by clicking “Use the HTML Template”.
To upload existing files: Click Upload Files, select the file, click Open. You can also drag and drop files from your computer into File Manager. If you upload an archive file, you can extract its contents using File Manager: Select Archive - More - Extract Files - OK.
- To move files to another directory: Click “Move”, select the new location, click “OK”. Copying is similar: select the files, click “Copy”, select the target location, click “OK”.
- To delete files and directories: Click “Remove - OK”. Note that there is no recycle bin — deleted files cannot be recovered.
- File Manager allows you to view and edit certain types of files, such as image files, text files, and web pages. Click on the file name to view an image file. Click “Cancel” to go back.
- Every file and directory on your website has access permissions that define who can view, execute, and edit them. If you are an experienced user, you can adjust these permissions as needed. Click the individual links in the “Permissions” column, define permissions for user groups listed on the left, and click “OK”. The new permissions will appear in the list.
